June 30: Expected High Electricity Demand on the Grid Today!

System Peak Forecast slide: PJM afternoon demand by hour (14:00–20:00) for June 30, 2026, with a 90% forecast line (red).

Based on current PJM load and weather forecasts, a system annual peak could be established today, from 4 PM EDT to 7 PM EDT.

What to Expect: The grid will be under significant stress, potentially impacting stability and reliability.

Why This Matters: With extreme heat across the region, electricity use will be at its peak, making today a critical day for the grid.

The probability of establishing a peak is HIGH. Be prepared to reduce energy use as much as possible from 14:00 ET to 19:00 ET. We will continue to monitor the system to evaluate the probability of a coincident peak being set.
