Job Summary
We are seeking an innovative, detail-oriented Solutions Engineer to lead the design, specification, pricing, and proposal development for energy-efficiency and renewable-energy projects. This role plays a critical part in managing technical and financial aspects of projects tailored for large industrial and commercial clients. Projects may include solar, LED lighting, power quality systems, HVAC upgrades, UVGI, air compressors, CO₂ recapture, high-voltage electrical upgrades, and other energy conservation measures.
 
The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and clients to deliver comprehensive, cost-effective, and impactful energy solutions that maximize savings and sustainability for our customers.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

1. Project Design and Specification

  • Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to gather data and determine technical project requirements.
  • Develop system designs and specifications for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
  • Create detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, technical specifications, and equipment lists.

2. Proposal Development and Engineering

  • Prepare detailed project proposals, including scope, pricing, and technical requirements.
  • Incorporate energy savings analyses, payback periods, and ROI calculations into proposals.
  • Design and articulate cost-effective solutions tailored to each client’s operational and sustainability goals.

3. Supply Chain and Vendor Management

  • Manage sourcing and procurement of materials and equipment for projects.
  • Negotiate material and labor bids with vendors and subcontractors to optimize costs and quality.
  • Ensure timely delivery of components and compliance with project schedules.

4. Incentives and Funding

  • Identify and secure rebates, incentives, grants, and other funding opportunities to reduce project costs.
  • ·Prepare and submit documentation required for grant applications and incentive programs.
  • Stay up-to-date on funding opportunities and industry trends to maximize financial benefits for clients.

5. Sales Team Enablement

  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure they are fully equipped to present and pitch technical solutions to customers.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide clear documentation to facilitate effective customer presentations.
  • Serve as a technical resource during sales meetings and customer discussions.

6. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to align on project goals and deliverables.
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring technical accuracy and clear communication.

7. Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze project outcomes to refine designs, proposals, and processes for future opportunities.
  • Identify new technologies and methodologies to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability solutions.
Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in designing and managing energy efficiency or renewable energy projects for large-scale industrial and commercial clients.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CRM software, project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, HubSpot, or equivalent), and financial modeling.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be able and remain flexible to travel up to 50% to various current and prospective customer, sales, and project locations  
  • Must possess a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license
 
Certifications (Preferred but not required)
  • CEM or CEA (Certified Energy Manager or Auditor) certification
  • LEED Accreditation or other sustainability-related certifications.
  • NABCEP certification for solar projects.
