⚡ High Electricity Demand Expected Today (July 14)

PJM forecasts very high electricity demand this afternoon, with a strong likelihood of setting a system peak.

Peak Window: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM ET
Peak Alert Period: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM ET
Projected Demand: Up to 151,535 MW

Extreme heat across the region is driving high energy demand, putting additional strain on the grid during peak hours.

Important Context:
While today is expected to be a peak demand day, forecasts suggest even higher demand later this week. If that holds, today may not reach the system’s highest peak.

What You Can Do:
Reducing electricity use during peak hours helps support grid reliability. Consider adjusting thermostats, delaying the use of non-essential equipment, or minimizing energy consumption where possible.

We will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.
